“ Probably one of the best places to get Lu Rou Fan in Taipei! The food here is very delicious, and you definitely can't beat the price! We ordered Lu Rou Fan, Braised Pork Belly over rice, Pork Noodle Soup, fried tofu, and veggies. The 3 of us were full and only paid $12 USD! That being said, the restaurant itself is nothing to speak of, so make sure you temper your expectations. ”

“ Came here for lunch with my cousin who is a local and it was poppin. Very popular amongst locals and tourists alike. Business is brisk because the food is good and service is quick. Recommend trying the chicken soup, watercress, and the pork over rice or noodles. The tea egg was really good too. It's not even a block away from the subway station - exit 3 (see my photo). Look for the line of people and line up where it's marked in red on the ground. There is a True Dan bubble tea place a few doors down to stay cool either before or after your meal that has English menus also. ”

“ Good start What did I get The starter kit! Ha... I got everything that I think I should be getting. I got the tofu, lou rou fan, kao rou fan, bamboo, veggies and a meat noodle. I love that the serving size is small means you can eat a number of items. I do want to say that the rice was more than the meat but it was good. Very saucy and flavorful. It was my first lou rou fan in Taiwan so I really don't have a comparison with others. The bamboo was also very nice, it does have a taste to it but I think that's what makes it good. Environment FAST PACED. Boy what did I expect for a popular place. When I got there it seemed like a lot going on, there is no one to greet you. I just stood at the dedicated spots and when wait to be called. It moves pretty quickly since it is like a fast sit down place. Niceness of the staff They are very fast. That's all. Don't expect great service like they will wait on you. There is a QR code on the table and you just order from there and then pay on the way out. Dollar Very very reasonable. “ Recommended by our tour guide from a free walking tour and finally got to try it. I really appreciated that you can see the menu with pictures and in English from their QR code scan to order. I quickly learned that when you order just the braised pork rice, there's not enough pork, so we are thankful there's an option to add additional pieces of pork belly. Their ribs soup was good but felt like it was mostly fat. The steamed veggies is good. Always down for veggies. Also appreciated they have different sizes for everything so you can share with others and try different things. They are fast when it comes to delivering your orders. But like other reviews said, it can get loud in there as the staffs are always communicating with each other out loud like they were screaming at each other. ”

“ I would actually give this place 4.5 stars if I could. A must-visit quintessential eatery to try one of Taiwan's most iconic dishes, the pork rice (a.k.a. Lou Rou Fan). Because this place is so popular, there will almost always be a line, but it goes by fairly quickly. Keep in mind they are cash only. It was very confusing trying to figure out how to queue for dining inside the establishment, but we were able to figure it out. Also, don't be surprised if you end up sharing tables with other customers (especially during peak mealtimes), this is how they maximize their small space to efficiently serve as many people as possible. To get there, they are a short walk from the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall MRT stop so it is very easy to get to. We ordered two of their signature pork rice (large size of course, and it really wasn't that big of a bowl, but it was still enough to fill us up), a plate of dried bamboo shoots (large), and one piece of oily bean curd. Overall, the food was very tasty. I could tell from my first bite of their pork rice why they were so popular. The braised pork was flavorful, savory but not too salty and had a delightful five spice flavor in the background. The meat to fat ratio of the pork was perfect. There was enough pork fat in there to coat each grain of rice with the right amount of grease without making the dish taste too fatty. The bamboo and tofu also paired well with the pork rice. Best of all, we only paid $180 NTD (less than $6 USD) for two people, a great value for a satisfying meal. This place had a hole-in-the-wall feel to it, service was fast and very casual. Highly recommend giving them a try. ”
